With more than 35 years of experience, we at Mathis-Kelley would like to share some lawn and gardening tips.
Cleaning gutters safely
- Bag debris in small quantities and lower it slowly to the ground.
- Take frequent breaks, do not work from a ladder for longer than 30 minutes at a time.
- If you are using a ladder keep three points of contact wherever possible.
- Make sure the people who will be doing the job have the right skills, experience and training.
- If you are hiring access equipment, make sure you know how to install and dismantle it safely - ask the hirer for instructions or assistance if you need them.
Don’t let those leaves sit all winter because they can cause your grass to suffer during the winter months. Come Spring, you might find unwanted areas of your lawn with a loss of coverage.
1. Maintain sharp mower blades. Sharp blades will allow you to get clean, crisp cut grass and also help avoid diseases that can attack your lawn.
2. Always remove large sticks and debris from your lawn before mowing. This can help prevent the lawn mower from getting damaged.
3. At the end of mowing season, turn off the fuel to the mower, start and run the engine until it stops. This prevents gums and varnishes from forming in the carburetor over the winter.
